TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital was started in the early 1980's to give both patient and physician an alternative place to have outpatient surgery. At that time in the United States there was not the emphasis on outpatient surgery as there is today. The foresight of physicians in the 1960 area created a unique place which combines both a personalized atmosphere as well as a highly sophisticated high tech center for outpatient surgery. This unique blend which started in 1980 has continued into the present day and will continue into the next century.

I have been a part of TOPS since the very beginning and have always found my patients to receive excellent care. I myself have had surgery there as well as my family. In the early 1990's a small inpatient unit was started for patients that may require 24 to 48 hours post-op care by specialized nursing personnel prior to going home.

This small inpatient unit is staffed by specialized nurses who are trained in post-op care. This unit encourages the family to play a role in the care of their loved one. If a family member wishes to spend the night they are accommodated with meals as well as sleeping arrangements.

In the many years I have worked at TOPS I have been extremely pleased with the care my patients have received.
